Episode 5 - Paying Their Fair Share

July 28, 2021

Before oil and gas companies can start drilling, they are required to put money into a bond that will be used to pay for cleanup of abandoned wells or for failure to meet state mandates. However, these bonds are nowhere near the amount actually required for clean up and is costing Colorado taxpayers millions of dollars while enabling an exploitative and environmentally damaging industry. Listen to the new episode to learn more about financial assurances, bonding, and click below to find out what actions you can take.

Episode 4 - Legislative Roundup

June 28, 2021

The Colorado legislature just wrapped another session, and we're here to fill you in on how their votes impacted our environment and health. Listen to learn how SB 200's veto didn't stop the fight for environmental justice, with HB 1266 and HB 1189 being passed. We also thank everyone who spoke out against water degradation and made sure the Water Quality Control Commission ruled in favor of protecting our waters.

Find out below who your representatives are and how they voted on two important environmental bills, HB 1266 and HB 1189.

Episode 3 - Water Degradation

June 4, 2021

This episode we're covering the fight to protect Colorado's rivers and streams from pollution. The Colorado Water Quality Control Commission is pushing a degradation rule change that would make it easier to increase pollution in rivers and streams where pollution already exists - this is counter to all the expensive cleanup efforts on urban streams like the South Platte.

Sign up below to voice your opposition at the Water Quality Control Commission's June 14 meeting.

Episode 2 - Senate Bill 200

May 15, 2021

Colorado Senate Bill 200 is important legislation that would make concrete deadlines and laws helping us meet greenhouse pollution reduction targets. Currently we're lagging behind, and with Governor Polis' announcement that he would veto the bill, we're in danger of completely missing them and exacerbating the climate crisis.

This episode covers the fight for SB200 and what you can do - check out the 350 Colorado action toolkit for important steps you can take to support SB200.
